FRENCH AUBUSSON RUG RESTORATION

French Aubusson and Savonnerie rugs are perfect examples of European take on making fine rugs. French were certainly the master of rug production in in 17th an d 18th centuries, many fine examples remain in European homes. They are highly sought after among dealers, collectors and rug enthusiasts.

This rug was purchased by our client in USA and shipped over to Britain, as you can see from pictures below, it was in need of immediate attention. Flat woven pieces like this fine piece have extra ordinary features such as using two different coloured yarns to create a single 2 plys thread for weaving. After completion, all the work we carried out on this rug were undetectable. We washed it twice to get rid off most of the stains, restored all the structural and aesthetic issues and returned it to our very impressed client. www.rugart.biz
