SILK RUG GROOMING AFTER WASH

It is not easy to wash silk rugs, it takes experience, knowledge and a good craftsmen. There are many companies out there claim to wash silk rugs but they just surface clean them by wiping off the dirt as they are afraid of colours bleeding. When correct methods employed, all the rugs can be washed successfully. We wash many silk rugs with no issues whatsoever.

After washing rugs, there is more to do, especially with silk rugs whole pile needs to be relaxed and with fine pieces it sometimes takes hours just to groom the fringes. We do not cut corners, we work on them until we are completely satisfied.

After washing, relaxing the pile of the silk rug is essential, it may take long time especially if the pile is short like with this fine example.

Grooming the fringes is essential

See how the colours change dramatically from each end of the rug, this is due to direction of the pile.
